TORONTO – April 16, 2024 – Top Hat, the leader in student engagement solutions for higher education, is delighted to announce the University of Oklahoma has signed an enterprise licensing agreement to offer the Top Hat platform at no cost to its students. The agreement replaces the previous student pay model and is expected to save students an estimated $330,000 in the first year alone, while enabling faculty to bring the benefits of Top Hat’s interactive student engagement, content, and assessment features to more courses across the university.

“We are excited to support the University of Oklahoma’s efforts to make high-quality learning more accessible and affordable to students,” said Maggie Leen, CEO of Top Hat. “Interactive, engaging learning is the foundation for academic success, and we welcome the opportunity to work directly with faculty to help them realize the value and impact of Top Hat in their courses.”

Now that Top Hat is the University of Oklahoma’s centrally-supported student engagement platform, faculty can incorporate Top Hat into their in-person, online, and hybrid courses. Instructors also have the opportunity to use Top Hat’s interactive content and custom authoring solutions to deliver additional savings by reducing the cost of course materials to students.

A central part of Top Hat’s mission is enabling institutions to scale the use of evidence-based teaching practices. In keeping with this commitment, Top Hat recently launched Ace, a groundbreaking AI-powered teaching and learning assistant. With Ace, faculty at the University of Oklahoma can use their course materials within Top Hat to instantly generate knowledge checks and frequent low-stakes assessments to make learning active, assess comprehension, and build confidence and community in the classroom. In addition to providing real-time insights into student progress and performance, Top Hat also offers seamless integration and grade synchronization with leading Learning Management Solutions, including Canvas, Blackboard, and D2L.

To assist faculty in maximizing the impact of Top Hat, including the use of polling features, discussions, assessments, and interactive readings and assignments, Top Hat will provide training workshops and access to dedicated instructional designers.
