The affective domain of learning isn’t a bonus layer—it’s foundational to any successful course. When students feel emotionally connected, they engage more deeply and learn more meaningfully.
In this session, we explore a more human-centered approach to learning with Top Hat. Together, we’ll look at how to build participation and meaningful practice into every class, and how flexible, accessible content can help you meet students where they are. You’ll learn how to gain clearer insight into how students are engaging and understanding, so you can keep every learner on track.
Our faculty presenter, Dr. Jessa Roisen, will reframe AI not simply as a policy challenge, but as a curiosity challenge. She’ll share how to partner with AI as a learning tool and offer practical assignment ideas that integrate AI with intention and transparency. No matter your discipline, you’ll walk away with a toolkit of activities to try out in your next class.
Dr. Jessa Roisen teaches Ethics, Applied Ethics, and Philosophy of Sex and Love at St. Ambrose University. An innovator in the use of AI, she guides students to role-play complex scenarios, strengthen critical thinking and even teach AI key concepts, deepening understanding through active engagement and reflection.
Clare Castro is Senior Product Marketing Manager at Top Hat, with two decades of experience in higher education publishing and edtech. She works closely with cross-functional teams to bring new teaching and learning innovations to educators and students.
