What is Business? An Introduction to Making Markets Work for You

Jacobus Boers

What Is Business? An Introduction to Making Markets Work for You functions as an introduction to business and meets the needs of students who are interested in a career in business but have no significant, prior experience in the field of business. The initial chapters offer a basic introduction to foundational business concepts and models, while the later chapters explore the various functional areas of business. Each chapter begins with the Learning Objectives – the outcomes to be expected by the end of the chapter. Each chapter first explores a new topic and how it generally appears in Business, and it then examines the implications of the topic in Markets. The chapter then looks at Crossing Borders and places the topic in a global context before addressing Into the Future, a section that anticipates some of the trends and expected changes on the horizon. Finally, in a section called Your Career, the chapter seeks to make the material relevant to a student interested in business as a career and suggests how the topic can be used to prepare for success.
