What is
Hybrid Instruction
Hybrid instruction, similar to blended learning, combines in-class instruction with online activities. Here, face-to-face and online activities complement and reinforce each other rather than being duplicates.
The following components are key to hybrid instruction:
– “Seat time” in class is reduced, but not eliminated altogether
– Web-based and in-class features are designed to interact pedagogically to take advantage of the best features of each other
Hybrid instruction may come in the form of online lectures, discussions, in-class tutorials, blog assignments, webinars, guest lectures and more. Hybrid instruction can help enhance self-directed learning and time management skills for those who participate.
