A teaching philosophy statement is a written statement that describes an instructor’s goals, values and beliefs about learning and teaching. It should use evidence from one’s teaching experience to demonstrate their progress and development as an educator. It can also serve as a general expression of beliefs and practices and can be applied in the syllabus or course website development process.
A teaching philosophy statement refers to a statement that is unique to every educator that should include a personal theory of learning, the goals for instruction or what should be learned, the responsibilities and roles students play in this process, the instructor’s role in this process and a description of the variables which promote learning.
