They teach students in a particular discipline and may conduct research and publish scholarly papers or journals. They plan lessons and assignments and assess students’ understanding through tests and other assessments.
Professor is the term for someone who teaches at a university or college in either academic or vocational subjects such as English or culinary arts, respectively. Professors teaching in large courses may work with teaching assistants, who grade assessments for them. Professors usually hold office hours outside of class to offer students an opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification as needed.
