What is

Student Centered Learning

Student centered learning puts students’ individual needs and interests at the forefront of instructors’ teaching practices. The term encompasses educational programs, students’ learning experiences and academic-support strategies for ensuring students get the most out of their education.

Student centered learning gives students more autonomy in their educational experience. These classrooms involve students in the planning, implementation, and assessment phases of an instructional unit. As the term implies, students are placed at the center of their learning rather than on the outskirts, and are given freedom in voicing how, what and why they are learning certain topics.
