Senior lecturer refers to faculty members who make a significant contribution to teaching and development within their department. Senior lecturers are responsible for assessments, course administration and often take on leadership roles during curriculum and course design. They are also independent researchers who advance scholarship in their discipline.

Senior lecturers refer to a high-rank teaching position that is conferred on those who have extensive training, competence and experience in their field of study. They are equivalent to the rank of associate professor at North American universities.
