One Minute Quiz
A one minute quiz is an active learning activity where students complete a three question quiz worth three points in the first five minutes of each class period. Questions for the quiz are given in the last five minutes of the previous class. Answers can be emailed or posted in a discussion thread, allowing students to assess their own understanding of course concepts and where to focus further study efforts.
One minute quizzes are also a straightforward way for instructors to gauge where students are succeeding and which concepts may need further clarification. These quizzes can also be a chance for students to reflect on their learning through an open-ended discussion question, where they are encouraged to connect their learnings to the world outside the classroom.
