What is
Early Alert
Early alert is an online tool that institutions use to identify at-risk students early in the semester. This tool allows schools to address barriers to students’ success, leading to increased student retention and a more positive learning experience. Faculty first notice that certain students are struggling, with the system then reviewing concerns and identifying appropriate resources. Finally, academic advisors connect with students and provide the resources needed to help students get back on track.
Early alert systems include an alert component along with an intervention component. Alerts indicate who requires guidance at an institution while intervention encapsulates outreach methods used by counsellors or advisors to provide helpful tools to students.
