College Transfer

College transfer is the process through which students can move between higher ed institutions. For a successful college transfer to happen, the learning that a student has completed at one institution must be recognized at another, so that courses that have already been completed will not have to be repeated at the new institution. College transfers can be done for a number of reasons—money, an alteration in family circumstances, a need for more flexibility, or simply wanting to change the subject being studied.

The duration of the college transfer process largely depends on the similarity between the course material at the two institutions, or how the potential college transfer can apply to the requirements of the new program. The eligibility to receive college transfer credits depends on grades received in a specific course as well as when the course was completed, to ensure curriculum and learning objectives are consistent between institutions.
