What is
Associate Professor
Associate professor is the title given to someone who has achieved tenure. One rank above assistant professors, this position usually leads to an increased administrative load and committee membership that is restricted to those who are tenured. Associated professors must conduct their inquiry within their school’s accepted guidelines for academic research.
Associate professors are faculty members who are expected to teach, conduct research and attend academic conferences. They are also expected to take on a service role within their school, by sitting on committees dedicated to curricula development and workplace safety. A full professor is the next rank up from associate professor.
