Introduction

Welcome to Practical Kinesiology for Athletic Training!  This lab guidebook will present foundational concepts of kinesiology while highlighting palpation techniques and related injuries.  The book is organized to present foundational concepts in arthrokinematics, bones, muscles, and biomechanics prior to moving into the anatomy-based chapters.  Gait and posture, although not significantly palpation-based, will be discussed after the anatomy chapters due to the necessity to build on knowledge of anatomical structures.

Each chapter can be used as a guide for lab activities and/or lab review, and will conclude in a homework section.  The chapters were designed to work within a semester with 12 weeks of lab, where one chapter will correlate with each week.

I welcome your feedback, and hope you enjoy the book!
